about this site

Who is David J. Laporte?

I am. To elaborate, I was born and raised around Sudbury, Ontario (Canada, to my international readers). After briefly calling St. Catharines home during my years at Brock University (as a Geography major), I developed an interest in wind energy that led me to Burlington and the 'Golden Horseshoe' for a number of years. I then moved to Victoria, British Columbia for graduate school and have loved the wild west ever since - although now I'm no longer an islander, and am proud to call Vancouver my home.

Why did he make this website?

The site has evolved from humble beginnings as an MSN homepage during my undergraduate years, to a site highlighting academics and trip photography, and finally to the masterpiece in front of your very eyes. The only things that haven't changed throughout the years are the ever-popular photos (although I'd like to think they've gotten better), and of course, the FoOtLoOsiETy.

What is footloosiety anyways?

'Footloosiety' is something I made up in my undergrad days. Although it originally had a different meaning (ask me about it sometime), I now think of it as 'the act of being footloose' - It has since become my domain and username across the web, mainly because I have no online competition using this keyword (in case you were curious).

Send me an email to tell me what you think of the site if you want.
